About Beaver
Lake
Sailing
Club
The Beaver
Lake
Sailing
Club (BLSC) is located near
Rogers
nestled in the
Lost
Bridge
community of
Beaver
Lake
in beautiful
Northwest Arkansas.
The club was founded in
1968 as a non profit organization by a handful of avid day sailors
with the intention of promoting the sport of sailing in
Northwest Arkansas.
Organized activities and racing were
initially held in the Rocky Branch area of
Beaver
Lake.
The local marina dock served as the
gathering place for skipper’s meetings.
In 1978 a group of 8 club
members banded together as the
Arkansas
Yacht Partnership (AYP) purchasing approximately 5 acres in the
Lost
Bridge
area for new club facilities.
In 1979 AYP sold the property to the
Beaver
Lake
Sailing Club creating its new home.
Six moorings were anchored in the cove
in front of the property.
By 1981 the first dock with 8 slips was
completed. As
membership increased the club purchased the adjacent property
bringing the total acreage to 10.
To date
the club has five docks which are home to approximately 70 vessels.
The upper parking lot provides dry
storage for trailer sailors.
Tie ups at the end of each dock are
provided for visiting yachts.
The
racing schedule includes both a Spring and Fall series.
A PHRF scoring system is used for
handicapping.
The
Arkansas
Cup series are long distance races held on three days spread
throughout the year.
The club also hosts the Annual NEBCO
Regatta in late September.
All proceeds from the regatta are to
benefit the
Northeast
Benton
County
Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to an aggressive
racing schedule, the BLSC also hosts a number of organized club
activities for its members such as raft-ups, full moon sails, and
cook-outs.
